Thattu Vadai Settu Kadai

On the first day of the week, I wanted to diet but as night approached our hunger bell started to ring and my friends made me crave for food, we wanted something spicy, something different, something yummy .

This place came to my mind, as my sister who lives in salem always talks about Thattu Vadai Settu and how yummy it tastes and I saw this Thattu Vadai Settu Kadai in the streets of Gopalapuram and have crossed this place many times... This place is on my must visit check list, so I suggested this place to my friends and they were very interested so I turned my car  to the streets of Gopalapuram found Thattu Vadai Settu Kadai "talk of the town already".

As we went near their small cart like stall, we were surprised to see two young ladies working there, Uthra Lakshmi a very lively host I would say, what would you like to have she asked
very cheerfully, well it was my first time there so we asked her to suggest... She suggested combo and norukkal ie., Smashed muruku with chutney, powder, shredded veggie and ground nuts....

As it was getting prepared we got a chance to talk with Abirami and know more about  thattu vadai SETTU kadai.  It is a chat made of south indain snacks thatai  and its a very popular snack/chat in salem, it's a sandwich of  thatai with shredded carrot, beetroot, masalas and chutney.. They have built on the recipe with shredded mango, garlic, onion, coconut, tomato and so on.

Girls from commerce background following their dreams,“their love for food”..... Food lovers themself two friends Abirami Shivakumar and Uthra Lakshmi wanted to start up a food chain,“Uthra is from Salem, and she always kept telling me about her love for thattu vadai settu, which made me want to try one, As I visited Salem, I fell in love with thattu vadai settu... and though why not start our own thattu vadai settu kadai? thats how all this started says Abirami, their venture was started purely out of passion for food!!

Personally, I hate beetroot. I still couldn’t imagine how something has beetroot in it tastes so good? It’s not just a chat its chat + tasty + healthy = bonus, their best selling sets are  mango Settu, onion Settu, garlic Settu and Norukkal

The Settu was spicy, crunchy, little difficult to explain how it tastes, they taste different “ try it yourself " and you will know what I mean and the Norukkal, it tasted really different we have never had anything like that.

Surprised to know they have Goli soda! Apart from that they serve Rava Urundai, Pasi Parupu Urundai, Pottu Kadalai Urundai, Masala Pori, Pani Puri and Kumbakonam Degree Coffee.

Their Settu menu contains onion tomato settu, plain settu, vengaya settu, thakali settu, manga settu, poondu settu, thenga settu, muruku settu

They have introduced new varieties  Mushroom sethu, Paneer settu, Spring Onion settu, Corn settu,
Peas settu, Potato settu, Bun settu.

Their pricing is between Rs 10/-60/-

Very hygienic, pocket friendly, a perfect local street food!!

Wishing them all the best from our Mind Palace!! keep rocking!!
